As the calendar turns to Spring, Stevenson Sports wraps up the basketball season and turns to the spring sports.
With respect to basketball, the season was an extreme success. The varsity boys posted a 5-1 record while the junior varsity boys almost equaled that record with four wins and one loss. As for the girls, the varsity team finished 4-3 and the junior varsity girls ended up with a 2-4 record. The season ended fittingly with an 8th grade vs faculty game that ended in a tie.
Spring sports presents three options: golf, tennis and beach volleyball. Golf returns several key players from last year's team and is primed for great success.
The tennis program bounces into the season with two significant changes: a new coach and a new schedule. Mr. McCarthy, a former instructional tennis pro, brings vast experience to the program. His expertise will be on display four days a week now that the tennis program is available Monday-Thursday.
Finally, beach volleyball is the newest addition to the after school sports program. This noncompetitive introduction to bumping, setting and spiking takes place at the Carmel beach two days a week.
Spring is in the air and so are spring sports. Go Pirates!
