While the rains forced YMCA soccer leagues around the area to cancel all games, the weather did little to stop a successful day on the Carmel Campus. In true gritty fashion, teams kicked off the competition early Saturday morning in the rain. As morning turned into afternoon, the skies cleared and games continued seamlessly. A total of seven games were played and most matches were hotly contested.
Tournament attendees included local celebrities, like former NFL player and coach Herm Edwards and the President of the Monterey Institute of International Studies, Sunder Ramaswamay. Both are parents of MCFC and ISM players respectively.
All told, it was a glorious day. Many thanks to parent Justin Clymo for digging out a pop up tent for both shelter and shande. Also a big thanks goes to our referees: Jose Jurado and Carmel Campus alumni Brady Barrow, Jack Parker, Drew Sharek and Kira Scheid.
